The following Wednesday, October 17, starting at 2:30 PM, the fifth of six symposiums organized for the 50th Anniversary of the Repatriation of French from Algeria will be held at the Théâtre National de Nice. This event is organized by the concerned associations and the City of Nice and will be attended by Agnès Rampal, Deputy Delegate for Repatriates. The symposium will focus on the theme of Exodus.
The event will open with a screening of an archival film from the National Audiovisual Institute, following which the speakers will include:
Valérie Esclangon-Morin, historian and writer, discussing policies and repatriation; Jean-Jacques Jordi, historian and writer, addressing “from dock to dock: transportation modalities of repatriation”; Professor Dominique Pringuey, Head of the Psychiatry Department at the Nice University Hospital, on the trauma associated with repatriation.
This will be followed at 6 PM by the inauguration of the exhibition “Suitcases on the Bridge – 1962, They Left Algeria” by the association FrenchLines, located at the heart of the Louis Nucéra Library.
