As part of the Christmas concerts, the students of the CNRR of Nice will be in the spotlight this Tuesday, December 17th at 6:30 PM at the Regional Conservatory, Brancolar Avenue.

The Singing class, the Vocal Ensemble & the Maรฎtrisien Choir directed by Isabelle Gioanni, the Musical Training class of Michรจle Anguille & the Harp classes of Nathalie Lebrun and Agnรจs Bรฉrard under the direction of Isabelle Gioanni will present to the public a program composed of “A Ceremony of Carols,” Harp, and English Christmas.

“A Ceremony of Carols,” by Benjamin Britten, dates from his stay in America from 1943 to 1945 while he was in exile during the Second World War. It is one of his most popular works. It is a suite of Christmas carols based on old English texts from the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries.

This work begins and ends with Gregorian chant in Latin with the antiphon of the Nativity Vespers “Hodie puer natus est,” whose melody is echoed in the middle, played by the solo harp, bringing crystalline and unexpected sonorities suitable for the Christmas season.
