Political populism is an approach that requires speaking in double, triple, and sometimes even quintuple language. It tends to go beyond critical theories because it opts for simplicity even when matters are complex. Instead of civic-mindedness and virtue, it prefers redundancy and the unfortunate. Agreeing with everyone and going with the flow can end up in the burlesque.

On Saturday afternoon, the mayor of Nice participated in the protest march of the pieds-noirs and harkis, even going so far as to conclude his speech with a resounding “Long live French Algeria!”
In the evening, before the OGCN-Saint-Etienne match, during the presentation of the future stands of Nice’s new stadium, the Allianz Riviera, Christian Estrosi said this: “Personally, I prefer to have a stadium called Allianz (a German insurance company) rather than Emirates (like that of Arsenal, in the name of the Emirati company), do you see why…”
Not really, but understand if you can!
