The Nice Club is organizing its annual forum “Energy and Geopolitics,” which will be held until December 5, focusing on the issue: “Energy in Europe and the World: Crisis or Transformation?”
Founded in 2002, the Nice Club aims to bring together leading figures from the public and private sectors of energy around a panel of institutions, companies, and personalities from France and Russia. A partnership links the Nice Club with the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Center for Research on Corporations and Societies in Geneva.
Every year, the Nice Club meets to assess major global energy issues and their consequences on the evolution of international relations.
Whether it concerns the increase in oil prices, the emergence of new economies, or the prioritization of environmental issues, the energy alert highlights the urgency for reforming a system ultimately doomed by its shortcomings and threats.
Rationalizing consumption, prioritizing renewable energy, and eliminating risky technologies have become the gospel of a reform that the global economic crisis underscores with even more urgency…
The 2012 forum, after the opening session on Monday, December 3, under the presidency of Mr. Valery KOSTIOUK, Scientific Secretary General of the Presidency of the Russian Academy of Sciences and in the presence of Mr. Claude NIGOUL, President of the Nice Club; Mr. Patrick GANTES, Secretary General of CRES – Geneva; Master Bernard ASSO, Deputy Mayor of Nice in charge of Energy & Industry, will revolve around round tables.
The first introductory one on the theme: โEnergy Systems: Crisis or Transformation?โ
Following in the subsequent days, more thematic: โThe Arctic,โ
โEastern Mediterranean,โ and โShale Gas.โ
