Friday, September 16, 2011, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Maison des Associations de Cannes (9, rue Louis Braille), the 1st Congress of Self-Entrepreneurs will take place. This day is aimed at project holders and self-entrepreneurs. Its purpose is to provide concrete information to all those who wish to engage in this process or who have already started their business.
Creating a business, being independent, is a dream for many of our fellow citizens. To remove administrative obstacles, the government has set up the self-entrepreneur status. This scheme was an immediate success.
However, becoming an entrepreneur cannot be improvised.
Recognizing this, the City of Cannes, under the impetus of Mr. Max Artuso, offers this day dedicated to the process of business creation, particularly through the self-entrepreneur status, and to the sustainability of this activity: the issues, advantages will be discussed, and advice will be provided.
This day aims to be rooted in reality and the concrete.
Throughout the day, speakers and experts will do their best to answer the questions of self-entrepreneurs to help them succeed in their projects.

12:00-12:30 PM: Social protection of the self-entrepreneur.
1:15-1:45 PM: Managing your self-business and available software.
2:00-2:30 PM: Relationships with your banker.
2:45-3:15 PM: The legal responsibility of the self-entrepreneur.

Creating a business, being independent, is a dream for many of our fellow citizens. According to statistics, 40% of French people would like to create a business someday.
For many years, the legal and technical complexity of the business creation process has been an obstacle, at least psychologically, to this desire to create.
To enable everyone who wishes to embark on the business adventure to do so with the sole concern of the economic activity itself, the government created the self-entrepreneur.
The goal is clearly to remove all administrative and legal obstacles to business creation so that those who wish can set up, buy, manufacture, sell, as simply as possible, only having to take care of their supplier and customers.
This scheme experienced immediate success, with over 800,000 people forming self-businesses.
However, even if the administrative process of business creation through the self-entrepreneur status has become childishly simple, it does not mean someone can transform into an entrepreneur overnight.
Indeed, the process of creating an economic activity remains relatively difficult and, above all, requires complete personal commitment. This is why many people who registered as self-entrepreneurs have actually not generated any revenue.
What we propose to examine during this day is both the process of business creation, notably through the self-entrepreneur possibility, and the continuation: from self-entrepreneur to the sustainable business.
Thus, we will address both:
– the issue of transitioning from employee status to entrepreneur status and the necessary attitude change this entails,
– the advantages of the self-entrepreneur status for starting an activity, but at the same time, the support that may exist for creating an economic entity, that is, how to think about these acts of buying, selling, and manufacturing, and who can help us with it,
– we also examine the bank’s relationship with the self-entrepreneur creator.
– then we will address the limits of the self-entrepreneur status, because there are some, particularly the social protection, legal, and retirement of the business leader.
– finally, we need to consider the life of the self-business and its transition to a legally established business status.
