The budget orientation debate clearly showed that the focus is on operational savings to finance the ambitious economic development programs entrusted to macro-regions by the new NOTRe law competencies and the generous catalog of electoral campaign promises.
Christian Estrosi is fully aware: “The financial situation is tense, the tax leverage is at its maximum, the debt needs to be reduced by nearly 3 billion euros, and leeway must be found by making considerable savings.
We have assessed savings of 48 million euros. The goal is to reach 90 million within three years, including the sale of real estate (is the Villa Mรฉditerranรฉe in the crosshairs?) in addition to the 5 million euros saved on the Region’s operating expenses. 13 million euros relate to real estate. 150 retiring agents will not be replaced.”
Another option considered is renegotiating the Plan contract with the State to recover an additional 200 million euros in credits before the summer.
In the more political section, after the 14 Vice-Presidents, yesterday’s session voted for the appointment of the Presidents of Study and Work Commissions.
Notable is the strong return of Nice elected representatives (Agnes Rampal, Jennifer Salles-Barbosa, Bernard Kleynhoff who assumes a strategic responsibility in the field of economic development policies) joined by two mayors from the department: Loรฏc Dombreval (Vence) and Richard Galy (Mougins). The setup is complete.
