Bernadette Chirac was in Nice, accompanied by Mayor Christian Estrosi, for the weighing of the Yellow Coins piggy banks on the Promenade du Paillon. The city of Nice has become the must-attend meeting place for this major charity event.
The Paris HospitalsโFrench Hospitals Foundation organizes an annual fundraiser in support of hospitalized children and adolescents. Since its creation in 1989, 85 million euros have been raised to fund nearly 8,200 projects across France.
On the occasion of this 27th edition of Yellow Coins, 10,000 piggy banks were distributed across the communes of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis.
The former First Lady was welcomed on the Promenade du Paillon with a Haka demonstration by the Matagi Taka Wallis et Futuna Nice Cรดte d’Azur association, followed by folk dances performed by the Ciamada Nissarda.
OGC Nice made a special donation of 4,136 euros to the French Hospitals Foundation. Including the piggy banks from schools and AnimaNice centers, a total of 915 kilos was collected, amounting to 10,412 euros.
After the weighing, an “official diploma” was awarded to each participant by the Bank of France. Face painting stalls were available for children provided by the Early Childhood and Youth Departments, as well as fencing initiation and demonstrations by OGC Nice Fencing.
Christian Estrosi paid tribute to Bernadette Chirac, stating, “France can be proud to have someone who has fought so much for sick children.”
