A part of the roof of Carrefour Lingostière has collapsed.

Latest News

In the late afternoon, around 5:30 PM, the roof of the Carrefour Lingostière hypermarket, located in the Var plain, collapsed, injuring two people. After an alert raised concerns that three people might be trapped under the debris, it seems no casualties are to be reported.

The heavy rains in recent days could be the cause of the incident, and the Veritas office has been commissioned by the owners of the shopping mall, the Klépierre group, who issued a statement to “express their full support to those affected by the accident.”

About a hundred firefighters are still on site, and cranes will be needed to remove the tons of the collapsed structure. The two injured individuals are employees of the pharmacy in the shopping mall.
“The specialized services have scoured the area, and the dogs detected nothing,” stated Christian Estrosi, the Mayor of Nice, who quickly arrived at the scene.
