A few days before the start of the Carnival, the King of Media has revealed the young women who will accompany him. A queen and two runners-up who are sure to captivate the spectators.
This year, the Nice carnival is themed around media. A response to the attacks that affected Charlie Hebdo and Paris last year. And as the event quickly approaches, His Majesty invited elected officials and journalists to the famous carnival hangar.
The deputy mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, his deputy for Tourism, Rudy Salles, as well as the director general of the Tourism and Convention Bureau, Denis Zanon, became the spokespersons for the famous King of Media by announcing his court. Thus, Amélie Tournes, a student of osteopathy, is elevated to the rank of carnival queen: “It’s a childhood dream. Carnival brings back very beautiful memories for me, it’s going to be a very beautiful adventure. I am very proud to represent the city of Nice,” confides the 22-year-old Niçoise.
The lovely Mathilde Novella, aged 19, is elevated to the rank of first runner-up. And the young high schooler in her second year of preparation couldn’t hide her joy at being on the float and participating in the battle of the flowers: “I am super happy, I didn’t even expect to be the first runner-up, but my goal was to participate in the battle of the flowers. It’s a childhood dream coming true. My aunt did it when she was younger and she always advised me to do it,” she said.
And to complete this trio, a lovely 23-year-old Russian, Anastasia Tolkacheva, was chosen as the second runner-up. Having settled on the French Riviera a year and a half ago, this master’s student in international hospitality, already a winner of the Nice Carnival Run in pairs, is eager to experience the atmosphere of the battle of the flowers from the inside: “There’s an atmosphere that resonates during these battles. This time, it’s my turn to make the flowers resonate,” she expressed. And all this in impressive French, mind you.
The King of Media will thus have a proud presence alongside his queen and two runners-up. Three splendid young women who will participate in the Nice Carnival for the very first time.
