Mr. Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, will launch the annual forum of the Climate Energy Plan of Alpes-Maritimes, in the presence of Mr. Honorรฉ Colomas, Vice-President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes.

During this forum, various initiatives conducted in the Department in favor of renewable energy, building and planning, transport, economic development, as well as actions undertaken for climate change adaptation will be presented.

Through its Climate Energy Plan, the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes is committed, in collaboration with many partners, to undertake and promote all actions that contribute to the fight against climate change. The Climate Energy Plan of Alpes-Maritimes aims for a 20% reduction in resident emissions, equating to 1.5 million tons of CO2.

Initiated in 2007, this plan launched by the Department anticipated far ahead the recommendations of the Grenelle 2 of the environment, which made it mandatory in 2012 to implement a Climate Energy Plan for all Departments.

Let us recall that since the approval of the Plan, 22 public awareness and exchange meetings have already been organized.

Associated with around forty working groups, these efforts have led to the realization of concrete actions such as supporting research on third-generation biofuels, the implementation of the Azur card, the hiking bus, the development of bicycle paths, the recycling of materials used during road planning, the drafting of a sustainable planning guide for elected officials for the elaboration of PLUs or SCOT, the establishment of financial assistance for the energy renovation of social buildings, and the diagnosis and renovation of public lighting in nearly half of the communes of Alpes-Maritimes.
