We would have been really “bored” in these upcoming departmental elections, formerly known as cantonal elections, but a brilliant idea emerged in one of the Nice cantons which will rely on the joint candidacy of Dominique Estrosi-Sassone and Charles Scibetta, who inaugurated their Nice office yesterday evening. An itinerary off the beaten path.
Of course, the opposition’s “grumblers” have launched a few scuds, but in vain, as this union is ultimately just a logical continuation of what constitutes the very foundations of politics. Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, a true product of the Azur right and a “strong woman” of the UMP in the Alpes-Maritimes and newly elected Senator, teamed up with Charles “Carlo” Scibetta, the new Mayor of Carros who began his political engagement… in the Communist Party. With such a duo, victory is sure to follow, and it is to be hoped that this first will be far from the last, and that the politics of Nice and the Azur will know how to take example from an initiative that proves, if proof were needed, that unity is always strength.
Sure, the reactions of some elected officials from Carros or the more or less justified criticisms of political opponents can be understood, but what a beautiful slap in the face to a certain way of doing politics that might have, finally, had its day…
