Christian Estrosi, Member of Parliament, Mayor of Nice, President of Nice Cรดte dโAzur, wanted to honor the soldiers of the 21st Marine Infantry Regiment, some of whom are from Nice, and their families.
This regiment has participated in numerous peacekeeping operations, notably in Afghanistan, where a captain and a chief corporal were killed in action, and 38 soldiers were injured. The Mayor of Nice wishes to pay tribute to these soldiers of the Republic who proudly and courageously uphold its values, faithful to their motto “hook and hold.”
After his speech, Christian Estrosi will present the commanding Colonel of the 21st RIMa with the “Prestige” flag of the City of Nice.
The tribute will then proceed as follows:
6:10 PM: Anthem of the 21st RIMA performed by the Nice City Fire Brigade Band
6:15 PM: Marseillaise performed by the Nice City Fire Brigade Band
6:20 PM: Cocktail in the Gardens and screening of a 15-minute film about the 21st RIMA in Afghanistan
Created on July 17, 1901, the 21st Marine Infantry Regiment has been professionalized since 1979 and has distinguished itself on all fronts. Based at Camp Colonel Lecocq in Frรฉjus, it belongs to the 6th Light Armored Brigade, whose headquarters is stationed in Nรฎmes.
