“We are the candidates for the gathering of the left, ecology, and center (PS, PRG, MRC, EELV, GE, and FD), in the departmental elections of March 22 and 29, 2015, in the ‘Nice 2’ canton. We all have professional occupations. None of us live off Politics… and none of us will!” – the two candidates say from the outset.
Nice-Premium: You are both involved in the associative world. Is it with this spirit that you approach this election against experienced candidates?
JC.Picard/ MA.Ngo: “We are facing, in this election, an incumbent general councilor who has been elected for 30 years, which seems a lot, even way too much to us. Aristotle said: ‘democracy is about governing and being governed in turn!’ We completely agree with him.”
NP: Despite that, these are very experienced people in their roles as Nice officialsโฆ
JCP/MAN: More broadly, the pair offered by the UMP consists of individuals who seem already very busy to us (they are both deputy mayors and metropolitan councilors). These two UMP elected representatives explain to us that the ultimate efficiency is the accumulation of mandatesโฆ But, in the end, it must be noted that they find themselves caught between their desire not to upset Christian Estrosi and their obsession not to displease รric Ciotti. This explains why, until now, we haven’t heard much from them! Yet, there was plenty of material, if only concerning line 2 of the tramwayโฆ
NP: What are the differences between you and them?
JCP/MAN: Our approach is completely different. We affirm, on the contrary, that it is necessary to have elected officials not only who are available but – above all – free. Indeed, to effectively defend citizens, one must be free to express oneself, to oppose, but also to propose new ideas, even when they disturb certain habits.
NP: You want to play the troublemakersโฆ
JCP/MAN: That is what we will do, once elected. We will even start a little earlier since our manifesto will include about thirty proposals centered around political ethics, transparency, citizen participation, the control of public money, and the defense of the residents’ living environment.
