Marie-Christine Arnautu (FN/RBM): Nice will be my only and sole mandate and my only and sole mission.

International Women’s Day, this March 8, was also the day of the presentation of the project by the only female lead candidate for the Nice municipal elections, who could potentially become the first female Mayor of Nice… If the voters will it!

arnautu_nice-2.jpg March 23 is approaching, but weโ€™re not there yetโ€ฆ Marie-Christine Arnautu had therefore scheduled a meeting to present her project and the defining points of her program.

The National Front candidate speaks: “If I am elected, I will be the mayor of what is reasonable and rational. The legacy left by the outgoing administration is burdensome, particularly the shameful and worrying state of finances for future generations. In the most total confusion between city and metropolitan expenditures, we are heading towards 1.5 billion euros in debt. In any case, each resident of Nice carries with them 2,854 euros that they will have to repay to the creditors in one way or another.”

Decisively critical of Christian Estrosi, her opponent
continues: “The role of a Mayor is not to cut a ribbon every hour or participate in all sorts of social events, alongside his entourage of collaborators, all paid by the municipality. My running mates and I come from civil society, and we’re not looking for jobs just to make a living.”

And she adds: “I will manage the city like a good mother (or mayor) of a family, refusing any double-talk, as the current occupant of the mayoral office is used to doing. Moreover, I, unlike him, do not need personal promotion…”

“The opposition (or rather the so-called opposition) also bears heavy responsibility for accepting the contempt, distance, and condescendence of the outgoing mayor. And as a result, it has become complicit in an authoritarian and opaque administration,” she concluded.

Former Air France sales executive, Marie-Christine Arnautu draws on her professional past to outline her future for Nice: “Nice has everything it takes to bounce back; this city has all the parameters to relaunch itself. It only lacks one essential criterion: a true managing pilot!” She joked.

The question is: Will there be a pilot in the plane… for the second round?
