Smart City Innovation Center is a unique development in terms of smart cities and will measure in real-time, noise, air quality, waste bins, green space irrigation, water network, and road traffic.
The Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis has formed around it, within the framework of IMREDD (Mediterranean Institute for Risk, Environment and Sustainable Development), a consortium of major industrial players to create the Smart City Innovation Center.
A true collaborative platform, the Smart City Innovation Center brings together in one place the key players in research, education, and leading intelligent city companies.
The Smart City Innovation Center is now a 300 mยฒ showroom installed at IMREDD in the heart of the Ecovallรฉe.
This space concretely allows the world of academia and research to work in synergy with leading industrial experts in innovation and smart city domains (Veolia, IBM, m2ocity, Orange,).
The Urban Environmental Monitoring (MUE) will be one of the first applications presented: through the deployment of a network of nearly 3,000 sensors over a 160-hectare area in West Nice, environmental data is collected (air quality, noise, water and energy, waste management, etc.) and processed to test about twenty new services and subsequently improve services for residents, companies, and municipalities.
During previous “smart city” experiments it conducted (connected boulevard, Spot Mairie…), the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis shared its data and worked with only one industrial player at a time.
Today, thanks to the Smart City Innovation Center, all these players will be able to pool their data and expertise for the first time in one single place, thereby multiplying the possibilities for experimenting with new uses and services.
The Smart City Innovation Center foreshadows the future Eco-Campus of the Plaine du Var. It thus prepares the economic future of the territory by developing projects along the main axes defined around the sustainable and interconnected metropolis, in the service of economic development, employment, as well as optimizing city management and improving the life of Nice residents.
