The 2016 edition of National Reservist Day (JNR) took place in the magnificent setting of the Villa Massรฉna, in the presence of civil and military authorities and representatives of military and civilian reservists.
This event honors the citizens who have chosen to dedicate part of their time to the defense of our country by committing to serve in the operational reserve or by being citizen reservists, volunteering for public service.
It also provides an opportunity for young people to learn about the military reserve and for businesses and administrations to discover this commitment.
For this JNR 2016, the chosen theme is: “A New Reserve for New Threats.”
Following the January 2015 attacks and their operational consequences, an ambitious reform project of the military reserve is planned through the update of the military programming law.
By 2019, from a pool of 40,000 reservists, the armed forces must be able to deploy 1,000 people each day within the national territory as part of the protection mission.
Following the November attacks, this project is intended to be accelerated. The choice of the JNR theme therefore has the main objective of highlighting the importance of the military reserve for our army model.
In Nice, the Municipality, the first in France, has implemented a communal operational reserve, based on volunteerism and civic spirit, since June 25, 2010.
On September 10, 2015, the City Council voted to establish the Municipal Police Reserve.
