โ€“ What is the UNAPL?

The National Union of Liberal Professions was created in 1977 following the merger of several unions in the fields of health, law, technology, and living environment. In 1997, it acquired the official status of employer’s representative organization. It works particularly for the defense and promotion of liberal professions.

Today, it brings together more than 800,000 professionals employing nearly 2.5 million employees, more than 10% of total private sector employment.

As a key player in organizations such as the Superior Council of Employment or the Pension Guidance Council, it has become an essential social interlocutor. It is committed daily to ensuring that the liberal enterprise is considered in the legal, fiscal, and social developments of French society and the European Community by creating original and meaningful events like the Tour de France of Liberal Professions.

What is the Tour de France of Liberal Professions?

The UNAPL launched the Tour de France of Liberal Professions on March 11, 2011. This event aims to position liberal professionals as major players in the public debate by promoting dialogue with local and national political powers. In fact, liberal professions are at the heart of current debates around ongoing reforms in France and Europe. This event pursues two objectives: to locally unite the professionals of the sector and to establish a constructive dialogue with public authorities.

This Tour de France is organized around about thirty meetings between political decision-makers and representatives of liberal professions on major topics such as employment, work, regional development, or dependency. These meetings are also an opportunity for state and local government representatives to reaffirm their support for liberal professions.

Each stage is divided into two parts: a meeting between the region’s liberal professionals and a local or national political interlocutor, followed by a political debate centered on defined themes to highlight the fundamental role of liberal professions in the public debate.
