Defeated by Tourcoing in the BM League final last season, Nice wants to join Maxéville-Nancy at the Halle-Carpentier on May 9th. To achieve this, they need to win in Poitiers tonight in the semi-final playoff match.
Excitement was expected between Poitiers and Nice in the BM League semi-final, and it didn’t disappoint. After an away match snatched by the Poitevins in a tie-break, the NVB responded splendidly on Wednesday evening during the return match (3-1).
The Azurean club, defeated by Tourcoing last season in the final, remains in the race to return to the Halle-Carpentier to challenge Maxéville-Nancy for a spot in the AM League:
“We are going to Paris and we will win this final!” promises Thiebault Bruckert, the Nice center.
However, even though Poitiers is already assured of promotion due to their first place in the regular season, Brice Donat’s men aren’t (yet) eager to go on vacation.
“On to the final on Saturday because that’s what it will be,” explains the Poitiers coach. “Our performance was not as good as in the first match. We lost the service-reception battle. We will mentally and tactically prepare for the playoff match. And we will rely on our hall, it’s our extra player.”
