The 6th edition of Astronomy Week will take place from April 17 to 27. This year, the chosen theme is “Measuring the Sky: from Hipparchus to Gaia” in tribute to Tycho Brahe, a Danish astronomer known for creating one of the first star catalogs.
Inauguration will be on Thursday, April 17 at 6:00 PM at the Maison des Associations Garibaldi (Amphithéâtre Vira Souleù), followed by a lecture on the theme “The History of Measuring the Sky” by Thierry Scordino-Huguenot from the “Le Cosmophile” association.
The program for the week includes: animations, experiments, planetarium sessions, lectures, telescope observations (Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn), computer workshops on sky observation, astronomical anniversaries, projections, exhibitions, rocket launches, and visits to the Côte d’Azur Observatory.
On April 17 and 18, sessions at the Maison des Associations Garibaldi will be dedicated to the schools, middle schools, and high schools of Nice.
