Five evenings and thirty artists: In two figures, this is the Nice Jazz Festival 2014 edition presented at the Nice Opera House, where it was born in 1948. An exceptional patron and protagonist of the opening evening on July 8th, accordionist and composer Richard Galliano was present for the occasion.
Two stages – The renovated Verdure Theatre, which can hold 2,500 people, and the Massรฉna stage with its 6,000 seats – and a record number of visitors to beat with the 38,000 who made the event a success last year.
How many will there be for this 2014 edition? “The program is ambitious,” says Sรฉbastien Vidal, the artistic director confident in his new programming.
Christian Estrosi, who has directly resumed the management of the festival entrusted to Dimitri Triadifillidis, sees “a strengthening of the ambition to satisfy a highly attractive event policy.”
On the side, the Festival Off will be, like every year, a festival within the festival: Free concerts for all genres of music will take place every day at Place Massรฉna, starting June 21st.
Local talents will be able to showcase themselves, and the best will have the honor of participating in the concert on the last evening.
