The village of Gourdon has been selected to represent the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in the TV show Le Village préféré des Français, which will air on France 2 next June. This program, presented by Stéphane Bern, will feature 22 villages representing the 22 regions of mainland France.

The ranking, determined in advance by online voters, is revealed only during the broadcast on France 2 at the end of June; it presents the villages from 22nd to 1st place in the ranking.

Classified as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France and a true medieval fortress, Gourdon overlooks the lush Vallée du Loup.

From the Place Victoria, listed since 1940, an exceptional panorama unfolds over 80 km of the Coast revealing the Mediterranean, from Nice to Théoule! On the route of flavors and scents, the village has retained an authentic charm with its 12th-century Romanesque church. At its heart, the lively alleyways, Provencal houses, numerous artisans, and the quality of its welcome make it one of the most appreciated places in the region.

From Place Victoria, a grandiose panorama of the entire Riviera can be seen, with admirable extent and depth, its colors changing with the time and season. At the horizon, the sea joins the sky. On the left, Nice, the mouth of the Var, Cagnes and the Hippodrome, Antibes and the Cap d’Antibes, Juan les Pins, the Lérins Islands, Cannes, La Napoule, St Tropez, the Maures, and the Estérel, lost in the azure.

At your feet, the mule track of Paradise, the formidable rock is called “Le Grougne”. Below, on the left, the entrance to the Gorges du Loup, the Hamlet of Pont du Loup. Above, the mountain of Courmettes. At the center, the vast green valley traversed by the Loup. On the left, the road to La Colle and, higher up, the road to Nice via Vence.

In the background, the wide plateau of Rouret blocks the valley. You can distinguish Roquefort, Mougins and Castellaras crowning a hill. On the right, the pretty old village of Bar sur Loup. On the right, closer to us, the large bare plateau of Sarrée, then the woods of Gourdon. At the bottom of a deep gorge, the Riou de Gourdon bubbles.
