Nice stands in solidarity with the students of FACE 06.

Students today are key witnesses to increasing precariousness. For these reasons, a living space is dedicated to them: “the AgoraE.” It will be inaugurated on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 6:00 PM at 140 Boulevard de la Madeleine, in Nice. UPDATE: Due to a last-minute hindrance involving several stakeholders in student life, the inauguration of the Agora-E solidarity grocery store has been postponed to Friday, January 13, 2012, at 6:00 PM.

Being a student today almost feels like a temporary madness and a disconcerting outcome if they no longer sleep in their erstwhile family home. Or if they decide not to attend university, but rather go to an expensive school. In this disheartening situation, the Federation of Student Associations and Corporations of Alpes-Maritimes (FACE 06) has decided to invest in providing solutions to improve their living conditions.

This ambitious initiative will, however, unfold with alarming simplicity, confronting us with a real problem, the uniqueness of the act. Cities are more or less leaving students in the hands of a sometimes faulty grant system.

Students in need, guided by social workers, will be able to benefit from:

  • A solidarity grocery store with prices 10% to 30% lower than those in large retail stores.
  • But also support and health-prevention information services.

Of course, in return, students will have to commit to an individual project and a collective project. This is not an in-kind allowance but a virtuous exchange and good practices.

This hopeful initiative must not go unnoticed, and it is then that all students in difficulty gather to find solutions in an increasingly damaged world, on Monday, December 19, at 6:00 PM.
