High school and middle school students honored at the Resistance and Deportation competition

The Resistance and Deportation Contest rewards, as it does every year, the winners selected among the middle and high school students of the department. For the year 2014, the chosen theme is “the liberation of the territory and the return to the Republic.”

In the magnificent honorary salon of the Prefecture, in the presence of officials and elected representatives, the recipients (and their families) received the prize of this contest, whose first edition was in 1962, which serves a dual mission: to perpetuate memory and recall the sacrifice of former resistance fighters.

A few days after the Day of Resistance, which particularly honored the figure of Jean Moulin, the first president of the CNR, it is particularly appropriate to affirm the patriotism and values of those who, like General De Gaulle, knew how to say “no” in a tragic moment for the Nation.

122 prizes were awarded by the Jury to high school and middle school students.

The first prize for high schools was awarded to Jean Grimaldi, a student at Lycée Masséna. Two middle school students could not be separated for their category: Léo Civalleri (Charles III Middle School in Monaco) and Fiora Guyot (La Tramontana Middle School in Juan-les-Pins).
