There will be 2,896 athletes (237 women), aged 20 to 72, starting from the Promenade des Anglais this Sunday morning. On the program for this 12th edition: 3.8 km of swimming, 42 km of running, and 180 km of cycling.


The first start will be given at 6:25 a.m. from the Promenade des Anglais. After 3.8 km of swimming, in a loop, the triathletes will continue with 180 kilometers of cycling between the sea and the mid-mountains. The course has everything to appeal to the athletes, who will face the challenge of 1,900 meters of positive elevation gain.

Finally, the Promenade des Anglais will deliver its final verdict. The participants will finish with 42.195 km of running, to be completed in 4 loops of 10 km, between Plage du Centenaire and Nice Airport.

Sixty-nine professionals (50 men and 19 women) will be at the start of this 12th edition of the Ironman France.

Among those to watch is Belgian Frederik Van Lierde, a three-time winner of the event participating for the fifth time. For the men, we will also watch Victor Del Corral, twice runner-up in Nice. The Spaniard is aiming for his first victory on the Cรดte d’Azur. On the French side, the performances of Antony Costes and Bertrand Billard, who finished second at the Vichy Ironman this year, will also be in the spotlight.

On the women’s side, Tine Deckers is the overwhelming favorite. Already a four-time winner of Ironman France, the Belgian is aiming for a fifth victory. Multiple world champion, the Swiss Natascha Badmann, and the British Leanda Cave should also be considered among the favorites.

The first male athletes are expected around 2:45 p.m., while the first female participants will arrive an hour later, around 3:45 p.m.
