The Youth General Council: A School of Democracy and Citizenship

Latest News

The 2012-14 term of the 52 Young General Councillors ended last week during a ceremony in the departmental hemicycle, attended by Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, and Philippe Jourdan, Academy Inspector, Academic Director of National Education Services.

These young people, divided into two commissions “health, solidarity and education” and “environment, heritage and security,” implemented two large information and awareness campaigns. These focused respectively on the protection of privacy on the Internet, highlighting the dangers that social networks can pose, and energy savings aimed at promoting eco-friendly actions.

The 26 young elected representatives of C2 also continued the work of the previous term on school architecture, by reflecting on the interior design of the “college of our dreams.”

The Youth General Council, created in 2004 by the Department, offers elected middle school students the chance to engage in reflection on societal themes and to successfully carry out various projects intended for the middle school students of the department. They thereby become project designers and information relays on topics directly affecting adolescents.
