Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, presented this Monday the brochure for the second semester of his program “Seniors in Action”. Noteworthy is the great success with over 6,000 registered in 18 months and an increase in activities in the coming months.

seniors-action.jpg Launched in October 2012, the “Seniors in Action” plan now has over 6,000 registered participants and is “a victim of its own success”, as Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, has repeatedly pointed out.

The numerous activities offered are quickly overwhelmed, a lack of space that demonstrates the enthusiasm and excitement of the department’s seniors. The dances held twice a week at the Palais des Rois Sardes attracted more than 2,500 dancers, and the “Cinรฉ Seniors” sessions registered nearly 1,500 enrollments, a real success.

This Monday was an opportunity to take a first assessment of the “Seniors in Action” plan over the first six months of the year and to present the brochure for the second semester. About 200 people responded to the invitation of the President of the General Council, Eric Ciotti, who gave a speech before allowing the dancers to take over for the traditional Monday dance, enlivened by an accordionist.

“The General Council renews its commitment to offer seniors more activities, varied and numerous. This will meet the demands and expectations of the dozens of seniors who ask me daily,” responded Eric Ciotti.

On the program for this second semester, the traditional dance events and cinema sessions remain unchanged. The selected travel destinations are the Gers and Brittany. The major event of this second part of the year will be “Dance with Seniors”, a large departmental couple dance competition in the style of the show “Dancing with the Stars”.

The eliminations have already begun, and the final will take place next Saturday, November 22nd.
