On Tuesday, July 21, the association “40 million motorists” was in Nice for the presentation of the awareness campaign “100 questions for the road” which was launched on July 6. The association travels all over France to warn about road dangers and allows drivers to review road safety rules.
The aim of the operation is simple: to show that one must continue learning about road safety even after obtaining a driving license. The Highway Code is constantly being updated with new traffic signs or safety standards. The association “40 million motorists” has decided to fill this gap with an operation aimed at raising awareness among all drivers in France by meeting with motorists in several cities. As Daniel Quero, president of the association, explains: “it is about giving motorists the means to test their knowledge of road safety and the Highway Code. In this summer period, it is important to promote prevention among children, parents, and grandparents.”
Since July 6, a team from the association has been traveling across France on a route inspired by the Tour de France cycling race. Their goal is to meet road users and ask them a series of questions on various themes related to road safety rules. A vacation workbook containing “100 questions for the road” is distributed by the team, along with a booklet for children that includes games and educational activities focusing on road safety. The general delegate of the association stated, “it is the first time a motorists’ association has embarked on such an awareness campaign. It is fun but above all educational, as we remind people of the basic rules of road safety and the behaviors to adopt while driving.”
At the end of the summer, the association “40 million motorists” will publish a national and regional ranking of the motorists who know the Highway Code and road safety rules best.
