For the 13th consecutive year, the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS 06) is organizing the Sports Caravan, in partnership with the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes and the Departmental Directorate of Social Cohesion.

Philippe Manassero, President of CDOS 06, wishes to convey through the “Sports Caravan” the values of Olympism, which are respect, friendship, and excellence. These are the foundation on which the Olympic Movement bases its activities in promoting sport and education for a better world. It also allows the departmental Sports Committees to promote their disciplines, reveal vocations, and share sporting moments FREE of charge with all the children present.

In organizing this summer tour, Antoine MANASSERO, the official in charge of the “Caravan” management, his Assistant Jeannine NEPI PELLEGRINO, and Nelly NAUDIN, responsible for project follow-up, ensure supervision throughout these days.

Several sports initiated by the departmental committees will be offered free of charge to children and young people aged 4 to 16: Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, FFST (Labor Sport Committee), Gymnastics, Pétanque, Table Tennis, Trampoline, Volleyball.

Notably, there will be the presence of male Wheelchair Basketball (HandiBasket Le Cannet); in 2013, many able-bodied young people wanted to try this discipline*:

A “Red card to violence” stand allows communication on respect in sport through visual communication, quiz games, signings of charters, and the distribution of “Fair-play” cards to children as well as to parents.

This sports day will conclude with an awards ceremony around 4:30 p.m., as each participant will receive a t-shirt in the colors of the event, and a draw will allow one young person to leave with an OGC Nice jersey, partner of the sports caravan.
