A simple idea and a vast chain of solidarity: To offer hospitalized children a back-to-school season marked by generosity is the goal set this year by Harley du Cœur, in partnership with the Lenval Foundation and the Marriott AC hotel in Nice.
The back-to-school season is a very important moment in a child’s life, even more so for a sick child who will experience it in the hospital. It is also a key moment in the parents’ budget, who sometimes struggle financially, especially when one or more children within a family are hospitalized.
Aware of these difficulties faced daily by the most deprived and financially fragile families, and keen to offer equal opportunities to every sick child, the big-hearted bikers have decided, in close partnership with the Lenval Foundation and the AC MARRIOTT hotel in Nice, to create a charity initiative called BACK-TO-SCHOOL SOLIDARITY.
The idea is to collect new school supplies by appealing for donations and the generosity of participants and by reaching out to them directly at their back-to-school shopping locations in the main supermarkets in the region.
These school supplies will then be entirely donated to the Lenval Foundation, which will distribute them to sick children.
Awareness extends to the Paris region!
With Harley du Cœur, solidarity knows no borders and easily crosses the Alpes Maritimes department! For instance, in August, about thirty teenagers from the City of Garges-Les-Gonesse (95) will visit Nice. Supervised by their municipality’s Youth Service, they have been very moved by the cause of sick children and wish to participate in this beautiful surge of generosity by joining forces with the big-hearted bikers and volunteers to collect as many new school supplies as possible, and then offer them to hospitalized children!
The implementation of the project
This charity initiative will take place in two phases:
– Firstly, the collection of school supplies between August 22 and August 30, 2015, in partner supermarkets, and from those who wish to participate in this initiative by depositing their donations directly at the A.C. MARRIOTT hotel in Nice.
– Secondly, the handover of this collection to the Lenval Foundation on August 31, 2015, during a reception organized in the late afternoon at the AC Marriott Hotel in Nice, with the partners of this initiative and the volunteers.
The two key moments of this initiative will be on Saturday, August 22, with a collection simultaneously held at Galeries Lafayette Cap 3000 and Carrefour Nice Lingostière (the bikers will be accompanied by the young people from Garges and volunteers) and on Friday, August 28, and Saturday, August 29, at the AUCHAN store in La Trinité. This collection will be carried out in the presence of Harley du Cœur, assisted by volunteers, who will distribute recycled paper bags to customers with the colors of the selected supermarket, appealing to their generosity and raising awareness about the importance of this charity initiative.
Once their purchases are completed, participants will be invited to return the bags given at the entrance, with the school supplies they wish to offer to the children.
