The Gym registers an additional departure with the transfer of Romain Genevois to Stade Malherbe de Caen.
Trained at Gueugnon and revealed in Ligue 2 with Tours, Romain Genevois arrived in Nice in the summer of 2012, with the ambition to advance his career on the Mediterranean coast.
Solid, robust, and swift, he experienced top-tier football on the right side of the block, but it is in the center that he played most of the time.
Having played 105 Ligue 1 matches in Nice, including 95 as a starter, the defender twice experienced the joy of a fourth place finish (in the 2012/2013 and 2015/2016 seasons) and brought his fighting spirit to two other more challenging seasons.
He also scored three goals while representing the Gym: one in the Coupe de la Ligue (against Sochaux) and two in Ligue 1, against Marseille in January 2015 and Nantes in November 2015.
Suffering a tibia fracture in St-Etienne in May 2015, he rebuilt his career with dedication and seriousness to make a successful comeback.
This successful return enabled him to participate in his first Copa America this summer, an achievement he will aim to leverage in Normandy, in a team that finished the last season in 7th place.
