This year, L’Escarène hosts one of the many stages of the 2014 summer tour of the Sports Caravan on Tuesday, July 29th. This turnkey event, organized by the Alpes-Maritimes Olympic and Sports Departmental Committee (CDOS 06) in partnership with the Alpes-Maritimes General Council and the Departmental Directorate of Social Cohesion, will take place on Place Camous with free sports initiations and demonstrations for children and young people aged 4 to 16.
Philippe Manassero, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Olympic and Sports Committee, aims to convey the values of Olympism through the “Sports Caravan,” which are respect, friendship, and excellence. These constitute the foundation upon which the Olympic Movement bases its activities in promoting sports and education for a better world. It also allows departmental sports committees to promote their disciplines, reveal vocations, and share sports moments free of charge with all attending children.
In organizing this summer tour, Antoine MANASSERO, the elected official in charge of directing the “Caravan,” his Deputy Jeannine NEPI PELLEGRINO, and Nelly NAUDIN, responsible for project oversight, ensure management throughout these days.
Jerôme ARDISSONE, Full Contact, 4 times French elite champion, WKN European Champion, 2 times World Champion in 2013 and 2014, and “Patron” of this stage, will meet with the young participants to share experiences and advice.
12 sports initiated by the departmental committees will be offered for free to children and young people aged 4 to 16.
Among them: Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Lyonnaise Boules, Gymnastics, Judo, Pétanque, Rural Sports, Table Tennis, Tennis, Trampoline.
This sports day will conclude with an award ceremony around 4:30 PM, where each participant will receive a t-shirt in the colors of the event, and a raffle will allow one young attendee to leave with an OGC Nice jersey, a partner of the sports caravan.
