Excitement in Contes as Alexy Bosetti, the OGC Nice striker, visited the Sports Caravan. Nearly 250 children aged 4 to 16 eagerly awaited the Nice forward for a one-hour autograph session.
The Sports Caravan has been a tradition for 13 years now. Organized by the Departmental Olympic Sports Committee of the Alpes-Maritimes (CDOS06) and the General Council, it was hosted for the third year in Contes, located about twenty minutes from Nice. The program included dozens of sports set up in a park, all supervised by specialized animators.
From the start of the event, nearly 200 children from the village and local day centers moved from one workshop to another. The judo tatami, baseball, and table tennis activities were the most popular.
“With over 200 children since this morning, we are breaking records for the event at Contes. The presence of Alexy Bosetti is a big factor,” explained Antoine Manassero, head of the Sports Caravan.
At 11:30 AM, the star of the day arrived at Parc du Verger, welcomed by chants from the Brigade Sud (editor’s note, a group of OGC Nice supporters), sung by many youngsters: “Bosetti, allez, allez!” As the second year of collaboration between the Sports Caravan and OGC Nice, the event was a success, just days after the visit from new player Julien Vercauteren in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
“These are always wonderful moments to spend with the children. It’s a pleasure for me to see them and autograph jerseys, caps, balls, and cards,” smiled Alexy Bosetti.
To conclude the visit, a raffle was organized to win the Nice striker’s signed jersey. Unsurprisingly, number 23, his jersey number, was chosen, and the young Justine, moved, donned the red and black jersey.
Due to media obligations, Alexy Bosetti stayed for just an hour. Upon his departure, all the children enthusiastically repeated in unison, a heartfelt “Thank you, Alexy!!”
