Ultra-Trail Côte d’Azur Mercantour in memory of Hervé Gourdel

Latest News

On September 4, 5, and 6, the Department of Alpes-Maritimes and Azur Sport Organisation are hosting the first edition of the Ultra-Trail® Côte d’Azur Mercantour. A course of 140 km, from Nice to Saint-Martin-Vésubie, between sea and mountains, with a positive elevation of 10,000 meters.

One month before the kickoff, Eric Ciotti officially presented the Ultra-Trail® Côte d’Azur Mercantour and expressed his commitment to making this race a must-attend event on the specialty calendar: “As of today, we already have more than 1,000 registered participants, including over 500 for the major event. For a first try, this is more than encouraging.”

For the President of the Departmental Council, “these nature sport events must be a showcase for our alpine territory and allow it to gain a reputation equal to that of coastal areas.”

This year, the competition will be dedicated to Hervé GOURDEL, a mountain guide who tragically disappeared last year, who will tread these paths he had so often traveled, and will be sponsored by champions Sébastien and Sylvain Camus.

Participants will start from the Baie des Anges, and the best will arrive at Saint-Martin de Vésubie after 19/20 hours of running!

Checkpoints are planned along the route to stop runners who do not meet a minimum time to ensure their physical safety.
