On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, presented the Info Family Card. It was at the Blue Tree nursery in Nice that the Mayor showcased this new informative card. It is made available to families to simplify their administrative procedures. He later held a press briefing on the back-to-school season in the city’s early childhood structures.
The Info Family Card looks like a business card. Once unfolded, it provides parents with all the necessary information. “Simple and practical, it assists families in administrative procedures from the birth of their children until they turn 18. The goal is to prevent working parents from wasting time searching for information. With this card, families will obtain targeted information. The information is organized by age group, according to the questions parents frequently ask us,” explains Françoise Monier, deputy mayor for family policy, early childhood, and youth.
Parents can find this Info Family Card in all annex town halls, schools, and nurseries. “Simple and readable, 100,000 copies of this card have been printed to ease parents’ administrative steps,” announces Christian Estrosi. “Until now, children’s enrollments were done online or through traditional payment methods such as checks. To further facilitate administrative procedures for parents, payments by credit cards are now possible at 6 Tonduti de l’Escarène Street in Nice,” he adds.
Moreover, the Mayor of Nice emphasized the importance of actions taken by the City regarding child care facilities:
“Out of the 25 establishments, 11 have undergone various renovation works. This represents an investment of 326,580 euros. This has allowed us to meet parents’ requests. All requests, I say all requests made by parents have been satisfied. In 2008, there were 1,500 children on the waiting list compared to just under 400 children this school year.”
“Every year, 6,000 children are welcomed. By the end of 2014, the municipality will have enabled the creation of 27 Early Childhood facilities (public, associative, and private) and the expansion of four nurseries, totaling the creation of 1,013 spots. This represents an annual budget of nearly 30 million euros.”
In August, the city of Nice opened four nurseries for children whose parents work during this month: The Blue Tree, The Irises, Bellevue, and The Little Poets. “For this, 110 Early Childhood professionals were mobilized to offer numerous playful activities to the toddlers,” indicates Christian Estrosi.
