The summer of 2015 was an excellent season with nearly 3 million passengers over 2 months, an increase of +4.1% and more than 111,000 additional passengers compared to the summer of 2014.
A historical record for attendance was set on Sunday, August 2nd, with over 53,000 travelers. Indeed, July 2015 was the best month ever recorded at the Nice Cรดte dโAzur platform: almost 1.5 million passengers passed through the gates of the Nice airport!
The international vocation of Nice Cรดte dโAzur Airport was confirmed once again this summer. 72% of travelers using the platform took international flights. Europe, representing 65% of total traffic, claimed the lion’s share of global traffic, thanks to the strengthening of routes and new services. The Benelux led with an 18% increase, notably due to the arrival of a third daily operator on Amsterdam and the reinforcement of Eindhoven and Rotterdam. In second position, the Iberian Peninsula continues to be supported by Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon. In third position, Turkey continues its rise thanks to a new regular service to Istanbul (+48% in passengers). Also in the leading group is Scandinavia (+6% growth), including Norway (+7.4%) and Denmark (+7.2%).
Other successes confirming the marked trend towards international travel this summer include:
Canada, which recorded an 8.6% increase, and North Africa, which grew by 9.8%. National traffic remains stable.
The load factor for summer 2015 shows an excellent score of 81%, 2 points higher than in 2014. Another major commitment to the systematic search for competitiveness by the Cรดte dโAzur Airports Group was demonstrated this summer by the launch of the Territorial Competitiveness Contract. In June, the Group announced for its Nice platform a REDUCTION in its aeronautical fees for regular Commercial Aviation over 10 years, primarily benefiting its Territory, as well as current and future client airlines. Indeed, the reduction in airport fees will involve a -2.5% decrease in passenger fees starting in winter 2016/17, followed by a freeze of these new rates over the next nine years.
Stay tuned for mid-October to discover the full release of the new winter season!
