Grasse, the capital of perfumery, is hosting this year the fourth edition of the Sacred Music Meetings of the World. These Meetings are designed as an artistic, humanist, and friendly event.
Spread over seven days (from September 19 to 28), this fourth edition brings together artists from all over the globe and is open to all cultures and spiritualities. These Meetings allow us to look beyond our differences and towards new horizons.
No less than thirteen artists will be present in various sacred heritage sites of the city of Grasse, as well as in public and private cultural venues.
The capital of Perfumes will resonate with the notes of various musical instruments and will make the entire city vibrate to the rhythms of these sacred musics.
From the Americas to China, through Italy, Lebanon, and even Mongolia, it’s a true spiritual and musical journey meeting the cultures of the World.
Jรฉrรดme Viaud, the new mayor of Grasse, did not wish to make any changes to these Meetings, which have been successful in previous editions. โ I am the new mayor of this city, and I’m not here to trouble anyone by changing these Sacred Music Meetings of the World, which have been fabulous over the last three years, and I would like to thank Jean Flores, the director of the Grasse theater, for understanding the message I wanted to convey.โ
This fourth edition is also an opportunity for the mayor of Grasse to convey a message that is particularly important to him: โThese Meetings are also important because I wanted them to be an open door to dialogue between cultures and religions through music, and I want to take this moment to send a message to our Christians who are persecuted in the East, because we must not forget that they suffer inconceivable atrocities. These Meetings are now more than ever a means of dialogue, gathering, exchange, and necessary appeasement in our multicultural society.โ
Such a message aims to make the city of Grasse, known for its perfumes, also an ambassador of tolerance and intercultural dialogue.
