The Nice-Villefranche-sur-Mer Regattas – Pasqui Trophy 2014 mark a new beginning for this Riviera competition, now essential for nautical sports enthusiasts.
This year, for the 5th edition of the Nice-Villefranche-sur-Mer Regattas, the Pasqui trophy is in the spotlight. They will take place from Tuesday, September 16 to Sunday, September 21, 2014.
Gilbert Pasqui, the creator of this trophy in 2004, is delighted, “Celebrating my 50-year career with these regattas is something exceptional.”
The 2014 edition of these regattas is set in a sumptuous setting, the port of Nice and the roadstead of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
Amateurs and professionals alike can indulge their passion, and this allows them to admire magnificent sailboats that have sailed the seas.
The mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Christophe Trojani, is very happy, “I bet that this high-level event will soon have the impact it deserves: international visibility, for the greatest happiness of its creator, all those who surround him, and for the greatest happiness of Villefranche-sur-Mer.”
The General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes and its president Eric Ciotti have decided to make these regattas an annual event, but also to double the number of boats welcomed.
And especially by associating the name of a great marine carpenter, who is in the spotlight this year, Gilbert Pasqui.
This 5th edition will also be marked by the abandonment of the regattas in the strict sense, in favor of parades and challenges, which will allow the general public to enjoy even more the magnificent spectacle offered by the sailboats and their crews.
The president of the General Council, Eric Ciotti, is delighted, “I am happy to see that more people will have the chance to enjoy the wonderful spectacle that will take place this year but it is also a double opening on our maritime heritage.”
The youngest will also be able to attend this unique spectacle in Nice. Eric Ciotti also wished to send a message of support to people with disabilities, “College students will be able to attend, as will people with disabilities, because we must not forget that solving this issue concerning them is the objective of the General Council.”
