The secret (an open one as it was leaked on social networks) was revealed yesterday morning, and the people of Nice now have new backdrops for taking their photos and their now-famous selfies.
As part of the information campaign about the construction of the second tram line (West-East), Christian Estrosi added a new element by setting up two information kiosks in Place Masséna, which will satisfy the curiosity and requests of residents and tourists on the topic.
And, to seize the opportunity to add some spice to the day, the mayor of Nice educated a few dozen attendees with a walking press conference among the four key figures.
A street show, pure Broadway style: there was a freshness in this familiarity with the citizens who accompanied Mr. Mayor, an authentic “showrunner,” during this little organized walk.
Indeed, if Christian Estrosi had not chosen politics, he could have had stunning success as a theater impresario thanks to his intuition—which this “surprise” doesn’t add much—but it’s a very nice idea—his sense of personal interaction and his empathy: the art of the profession, indeed!
In short, about the significance of the famous panels:
•••> 3 minutes between each tram
•••> 26 minutes from Nice Côte d’Azur airport to the port of Nice
•••> 2400 trees along the route of the West-East Line
•••> 20,000 fewer cars on the Promenade des Anglais
This operation marks the launch of a large-scale communication campaign on the new tram line currently under construction.
According to the executive plan estimates, improving the traffic flow in the city, this new line will remove 20,000 transiting vehicles each day from the Promenade des Anglais, leading to improved air quality and better public space sharing.
The arrival of the West-East line, together with line 1, will serve two-thirds of the population of Nice and 85% of the hotels. It will also bring a new public transport option, increasing capacity to 140,000 passengers per day while reducing bus traffic on the Californie/Promenade axis.
Finally, this project is accompanied by landscaping and a green ribbon of 77,000 m² along the surface route.
