From this Sunday to Thursday, December 1st, as part of World AIDS Day, the Alpes-Maritimes Department is mobilizing, along with many partners, to carry out information, awareness, and screening actions in various locations in downtown Nice.
Since its inception in 1988, World AIDS Day has become an essential part of the mobilization and a special moment to raise public awareness to curb the epidemic. Nonetheless, over the past five years, 1.9 million adults worldwide are newly infected with the virus every year.
The aim of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, engaged in the fight through CeGIDD 06 (*), is to provide access to screenings by offering information and free screening centers throughout the year.
On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the CeGIDD teams and the AIDS fighting collective (), of which the Department is a member, are proposing numerous actions including the following flagship actions:
This Sunday from 11am to 4pm, public screening day: mobile units will be present downtown, at Place Garibaldi (Aides), Place Massรฉna (Department’s Health Info Bus), and at the corner of Thiers station (Actes).
Department health professionals, along with members of various associations, will offer Rapid Diagnostic Orientation Tests (TROD) inside buses equipped with reserved spaces for carrying out the tests.
On Wednesday, November 30th at 6:30pm at Mercury Cinema: a round table on “combined prevention tools” in partnership with Corevih PACA East. And at 8:30pm, screening of the film “Thรฉo et Hugo dans le mรชme bateau” by Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau, followed by a debate led by members of the Collective.
On Thursday, December 1st at 6pm: Grand “Red Ribbon” gathering, minute of silence, perspectives, and launch of the “Objective Zero AIDS” project, followed by a festive evening.
