The wishes tour meant that this convivial moment took place under pouring rain. What could be sadder than looking at a clay tennis court flooded with water?
This inconvenience did not dampen the spirit of President Pierre Ginez who, in the presence of many club members, wanted to, with his eloquent speech, recall the serious uncertainties that loomed over the life of this historic club in the northern neighborhoods during the renovation project of the former Ray stadium area.
Threatened by the real estate development completing the project, the Tennis Club Méditerranée was ultimately preserved in its current state, and its 450 members — making it one of the largest in the hexagon — will be able to continue using the sports and social facilities.
The visit by Christian Estrosi was the icing on the cake for this warm evening since, on this occasion, the “future” Mayor of Nice spoke about the plans for significant investments in 2021 and 2022 to renovate the current infrastructures and make them even more attractive for the benefit of the new neighborhood residents who will certainly be in demand.
A well-deserved reward for those who, over so many years, have made this place a haven of peace and conviviality.
