As an extension of Reading for All, Theater for All has been strengthening since 2016 the policy of preventing illiteracy in schools.
Eugène Durif is invited to present his work as part of this initiative and in continuity with the creation of the play The Little History of Romeo and Juliet by the Collectif Mains d’œuvre, hosted in residence for a month at the Pole Nice Théâtre et Arts Vivants.
In his meeting with middle and high school students, Eugène Durif will discuss the theme of conflict and the possibility of overcoming and resolving it through communication, especially artistic expression, and what may arise from it (for example, the love of Romeo and Juliet). The students will all have studied R+J, the Little History published by the theater editions of the l’école des loisirs. This text by the author revisits the story of Romeo and Juliet from the perspective of the parents who have long been dead and buried but continue to argue about whether the Capulets or the Montagues are right.
Originally from the Lyon region, Eugène Durif worked from an early age while studying philosophy; he has been an editorial secretary and journalist. Today an author, playwright, and occasionally an actor, he has also collaborated on several productions. His publishers include Flammarion, Actes Sud, L’Ecole des Loisirs, and Verdier.
This Friday Eugène Durif will be:
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Jean Rostand Middle School (3rd Grade)
2:15 PM – 4:30 PM at the Théâtre de la Cité (classes from Frédéric Mistral Middle School)
