Following the announcement by President of the Republic Emmanuel MACRON regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the global health crisis, the Presidents of Regions spoke today with the Prime Minister and four of his ministers.
“Meeting today via video conference with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Budget, the Minister of Labor, and the Minister in charge of territorial relations, the Regions unanimously agreed to contribute 250 million euros to the national solidarity fund, as requested of them.
For the Regions, which are the leaders in economic development, this is a commitment of their total solidarity towards the self-employed and the smallest businesses. They are the first to suffer.
The intervention modalities of this Fund are being finalized with all the services of the Minister of Economy.
They will allow a rapid distribution of an initial emergency aid of 1,500 euros, which will be followed by a second wave of more targeted aids.
In this historic crisis, the Regions of France are assuming all their responsibilities by urgently mobilizing all their available resources, in perfect coordination with the State.
Moreover, tomorrow we will meet with regional economic actors, local authorities, and institutions to coordinate an additional local Fund for other sectors that will not be covered by State schemes, particularly actors in tourism, sports, the social and solidarity economy, the associative world, and culture,” declared Renaud MUSELIER, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and President of Regions of France.
