In the closing of the 19th day, OGC Nice hosted Metz, the league leaders. Currently in third place, the “Aiglonnes” had the opportunity to widen the gap with their pursuers. By logically losing 25-34, the team from the Côte d’Azur will not be the first team to defeat unbeaten Metz this season.
Nice was on a run of three consecutive victories, including one against Brest, who are second. Last night, the challenge was too great, and at no point did they revolt, as if they had accepted their fate before the match.
Manon Houette completely disrupted the Nice defense with no less than ten goals. On the red and black side, satisfaction came from Melissa Agathe (7 goals) and Linnea Marie Torstensson (5 goals).
At halftime, the two teams went into the locker room with a seven-goal difference (12-19). This was due to numerous turnovers during attack combinations or poorly managed fast breaks by OGC’s backline.
Following three two-minute penalties taken by Metz players, the spaces were wide open for Marjan Kolev’s players. Unfortunately, this did not disrupt the league leaders, who managed their personnel deficit perfectly well.
For the next match, Nice will travel to Bourg de Péage for the 20th day of the LFH. They will be back at home on March 31st to face Dijon.
