The Senate is sending a strong signal to the French people: the reduction of speed limits to 80 km/h should now be done on a case-by-case basis and in consultation with local officials in order to adapt it to the realities of each region.
According to Senator Dominique Estrosi-Sassone: “This amendment empowers departmental presidents and prefects to increase the maximum authorized speed on the roads they manage, following the opinion of the departmental road safety commission.”
