The 4 public nursing homes in Nice equipped with an innovative telemedicine tool

Latest News

The Communal Center for Social Action of Nice has implemented several measures aimed at improving the medical monitoring of residents in its four Residential Care Facilities for Dependent Elderly Persons (EHPAD).

In a continuous effort to adapt, a telemedicine system was tested in one of its four establishments in April. Following very encouraging feedback from doctors and staff, it will be implemented in the other three public EHPADs in the near future.

Telemedicine allows attending physicians to have constant access to their patients residing within the EHPADs of the CCAS of the City of Nice, with their consent or that of their families, through the telemonitoring of medical constants and teleconsultation.

Moreover, it improves the patient’s quality of life thanks to an optimized organization for the healthcare staff and the patient. It facilitates the reorganization of care and ensures daily and automated monitoring, allowing the generation of alert thresholds.

What is it?

Created and developed by Serviligne, a Nice-based company specializing in connected health and telemedicine, this system consists of a tablet with an integrated camera, connected via Bluetooth with various medical devices. It allows the attending physician to maintain a direct link with their patient and closely monitor their health data in real time.

How does it work?

The system checks the patient’s constants through:

A blood pressure monitor,
A thermometer,
An oximeter to measure the oxygen percentage in the blood,
A connected electronic stethoscope to monitor heart rhythm and breathing.
These measurements are taken daily by a nurse from the EHPAD and are transmitted instantly and automatically to a secure server.

What are the advantages?

The attending physician can then consult the data and temperature, oximetry, and blood pressure curves from their own computer and ensure the medical follow-up of their patient in the EHPAD (telemonitoring).

They can also, if necessary, schedule a teleconsultation with their patient from their office live, with the nurse conducting the measurements in real-time to allow the physician to have these vital data in real-time, and also remotely examine the lungs and heart using the connected stethoscope.

This system is currently proving to be particularly useful in the context of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The funding for this operation is provided by AG2R la Mondiale for a total amount of โ‚ฌ10,266 and by the CCAS for an amount of โ‚ฌ1,000.
