Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy, President of the Departmental Council: “A return to natural spaces that calls for vigilance and responsibility from everyone.”

Closed since March 17, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 19 departmental natural parks (*) of Alpes-Maritimes will be reopened to the public starting yesterday, Wednesday.

After a long period of lockdown, the people of Maralpin can get some fresh air with reasonable access to these natural spaces, which typically host nearly 2.5 million visitors per year with a high attendance in the spring.

The Department is committed to preserving and showcasing the magnificent territory it is responsible for, totaling 4,700 hectares of preserved nature. Refuges for wildlife and flora, relaxation areas for city dwellers, the departmental natural parks are a fine example of this.

The reopening of the departmental natural parks means that visitors must strictly adhere to social distancing rules (at least 1 meter between people) and safety measures. Gatherings of more than 10 people will be strictly prohibited.

Other restrictions to note: the playgrounds enclosed within the parks of Vaugrenier in Villeneuve-Loubet, La Valmasque in the communes of Mougins-Valbonne, and Estienne dโ€™Orves in Nice, as well as the House of Nature located in the Grande Corniche Park in Eze, will remain closed.

At this stage, events proposed in the parks are canceled until May 31 inclusively.

However, fitness areas, whether fenced or not, will be accessible, except for the one in Cros de Castรฉ Park in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. The linear fitness trails in the parks of La Valmasque in Mougins-Valbonne, Lac du Broc, Grande Corniche, Roquevignon in Grasse, Sinodon in Roquefort-les-Pins, and Vaugrenier in Villeneuve-Loubet will be open. All sanitary facilities will also be accessible.
