World Cleanup Day

Latest News

After the 3 tons of waste collected on September 15, 2018, for World Cleanup Day, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and the City of Nice, in partnership with the association everyday.earth, have decided to renew the operation this Saturday for World Plogging Day: this practice originating from Sweden that involves organizing walks during which people collect waste.

In 2018, for World Cleanup Day, nearly 500 people gathered in the parks, streets, and beaches of Nice for a gigantic cleanup operation. With more than three tons of waste collected, it was a real success.

Illegal dumping represents between 20 and 25 kilos per inhabitant per year.

This event is once again an opportunity to call for more attention to the planet, raise awareness about sorting and cleanliness to become fully eco-responsible, and reverse the trend.

All volunteers can lend a hand to the Collection and Cleanliness Directorate agents and numerous local stakeholders who will collect waste in the streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is possible to join the movement along the way.

Two proposed routes:

10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: departure from Général Leclerc Square heading towards Quai Rauba Capeu, Quai des États-Unis, Quai Lunel, Rue Bonaparte, Place Garibaldi, and Boulevard Jean Jaurès.
2:15 p.m.: press point at Général Leclerc Square
2 p.m. – 5 p.m.: departure from Général Leclerc Square heading towards Place Masséna, Avenue Jean Médecin, Gare Thiers, and Avenue Durante
