The “Rendez-Vous at Roland Garros” operation, launched by the French Tennis Federation (FFT), was set up at the Nice Lawn Tennis Club on May 8 in preparation for the Roland Garros tournament in Paris.
Paris, Montpellier, Lyon, Strasbourg, Nice, clay courts are invited on all terrains of France. “Rendez-Vous at Roland Garros” serves as a springboard for the Parisian tournament. Through the Roland Garros village, the public can immerse themselves in the world of the Parisian tournament.
The FFT offers certified clubs the opportunity to recreate Roland Garros within their structure. “It’s about promoting the Roland Garros tournament, clay courts, and the affiliated clubs. We have around a hundred clubs in France certified as “Club Roland Garros,” some of which are historic clubs like here, at Nice LTC. The goal is to create a kind of path to Roland Garros and gradually bring clay courts back to the spotlight. This is the first time we are doing this outside of Paris, and it’s a way to defend our clay courts both in France and in other countries, like Brazil, China, and India,” summarized Alain Fischer, general secretary of the FFT, explaining the purpose of this pre-Roland Garros event.
On the agenda for this 100% tennis day, the Nice Lawn Tennis Club offered:
- A tennis house where an exhibition of rackets from 1876 to the present day is displayed.
- A 180-degree photo studio in the middle of the new Simonne-Mathieu court inaugurated on March 21 in Paris.
- Presentation of the last 10 posters of the Parisian Grand Slam tournament. These interactive posters allow you to relive great moments in international tennis through a QR code that lets you view video archives. It’s a great way to brush up and impress others during Roland Garros!
- Galaxy tennis: discovering different tennis equipment for all ages.
- Preview presentation of the Tennis World Tour game, which is used for e-Series competitions. The game will be released on May 26.
