Panathlon Club of Nice Lecture Series: “Azurean Sport, Monegasque Tennis, Fertile Ground”.

Latest News

On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the creation of the Panathlon in Nice, presided over by Richard Papazian, a leading figure in the Azurén sports scene, a series of conferences has been launched—under the scientific direction of Jean-Gérard Guarino, dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Vice-President of the Club. The third session will be held in the presence of numerous personalities from the sports movement of the Principality of Monaco and the Region, this Thursday, May 23rd at 6 PM at Haut-de-Cagnes, Château Grimaldi.

This event is placed under the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and is hosted by Mr. Louis Nègre, mayor of Cagnes-Sur-Mer. It is organized by the Panathlon Nice Côte d’Azur and is part of the Côte d’Azur Sport Film Festival.

The program includes the screening of two short films:

“One Hundred Years of Passion” (Fédération Monégasque de Tennis)
“Olympic Footage” (“Olympic Imprint”, International Olympic Committee)

followed by a roundtable discussion

The roundtable brings together, around Francis Truchi, former director of the Monte-Carlo Country Club and the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, six major sports leaders from Monaco and the Azur region:

  • Maître Alain Bini, technical director of the Judo-Club of Cagnes-sur-Mer, former world judo referee;
  • Jean-Marc Casabo, “historic” president of Olympique d’Antibes Juan-les-Pins Basket-Ball;
  • Bernard Maccario, former director of the 7th Jeux de la Francophonie Nice 2013, doctor in educational sciences;
  • Diego Noto, president of Cavigal Omnisport;
  • Daniel Olivieri, president of the Entente des Sociétés Niçoises de Pétanque, former
    president of Nice Azur Boxing Club;
  • Jean-Pierre Schoebel, director of the Monégasque Athletics Federation and the Herculis meeting.

Claude Roggero, moderator of the colloquium, former teacher at the Faculty of Sports of Nice (and world canoe champion), will lead the discussion between the participants and with the public while maintaining the inherent guiding thread of the chosen subject.

Bringing together Monaco and Azur sports leaders in general, representing several disciplines, institutions, or events, the roundtable opens the angle of attack of the main conference on tennis.

The Monégasque tennis can be perceived, in its various components, as a model of management and performance.

The roundtable precisely aims to broaden the debate to all sports, as well as to the entire Côte d’Azur, focusing on the transversal theme of the colloquium.
