Nice will host the 4th Edition of the Franco-Chinese Cultural Forum: “Cultural Attractiveness as a Driver of Cooperation”

Latest News

After Beijing in 2016, Lyon in 2017, and Xi’ An in 2018, Nice will host the 4th Franco-Chinese Cultural Forum from October 6th to 10th, just a few months after the private visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nice, who was welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

This year, the 4th edition of this Franco-Chinese Cultural Forum will focus particularly on developing two themes:

– Cultural tourism: Mr. Jean-Pierre RAFFARIN has been mandated by the President, Mr. Emmanuel MACRON, to prepare the Franco-Chinese year in 2021. Nice will be an important stage in the reflection on this year.

– Cinema, a vector for cultural cooperation: This year, Nice is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the mythical Victorine Studios, which are being revitalized thanks to a project initiated and supported by the Mayor of Nice, Mr. Christian ESTROSI.

Around a hundred high-ranking Chinese officials from the fields of Culture, design, and the Arts in general, as well as Chinese decision-makers, are expected to attend the event in Nice, along with a delegation of young Chinese coming to engage with young French people on artistic professions.

The announcement was made by Mr. Jean-Pierre RAFFARIN, former Prime Minister and President of the Prospective and Innovation Foundation, and Christian ESTROSI, Mayor of Nice, in the presence of Madame Christine CAYOL, Founder of YISHU 8, the House of Arts in Beijing, and Vice-President of the Franco-Chinese Research Center for Art and Culture, during a conference held yesterday at the Prospective and Innovation Foundation in Paris.

This Forum is made possible thanks to the continuous and friendly involvement of Mr. CHEN Zu, a francophone and francophile, Vice-President of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress of China, and President of the Association of Chinese Former Students Studying Abroad (WRSA).

This 4th Franco-Chinese Cultural Forum will also allow the Chinese and French delegations to discover and appreciate several exhibitions in Nice at the prestigious Masséna Museum: “Nice, Cinémapolis”, “Blanc de Chine”.
